Reopening of part of TT course pushed back

Poor weather is forecasted over the weekend

A two-week road closure for drainage works on a section of the TT course has been extended due to forecasted poor weather.
The reopening of the Ballacraine to Kirk Michael Road, between Glen Helen and Sarah's Cottage, has been pushed back to Tuesday evening.
It means a planned four-week closure of a southern section of the Mountain Road from Creg Ny Baa to the Bungalow from Monday has been delayed, and it now shuts on Wednesday at 09:30 BST.
The Department of Infrastructure (DoI) said it had hoped to complete the resurfacing works over the weekend but predicted adverse weather was "likely to prevent this".
Works to improve the surface water drainage system from Glen Helen and Sarah's Cottage were at an "advanced stage", it said.
But the DoI said ground immediately below was bedrock, which had caused additional challenges and some drains and culverts had required maintenance, which meant the work had taken longer than anticipated.
The road has been closed to through-traffic for the period, although access to residential properties has been maintained.
Diversions have been in place at the Poortown Road and at Douglas Road Corner junctions on the A2.
