Residents in Surrey who are financially vulnerable due to the cost of living can apply for help under a council-backed initiative.

Elmbridge Borough Council has allocated £100,000 under a third round of its Cost of Living fund.

The aim of the fund is to enable local voluntary, community, and faith sector services to help those most in need.

Gill Coates, the council's portfolio holder for community care, said: “We know a large number of families and individuals in Elmbridge continue to struggle with the higher cost-of-living."

The new funding is in addition to £500,000 made available in previous rounds.

Earlier rounds of funding went to Walsingham Care, to provide food vouchers and equipment, Stripey Stork, to provide supplies of baby clothes, and Cook4Care, for home cooked meals for young carers.”

Cllr Coates said: "Our local charity, faith and voluntary sector partners are doing a huge amount to help.

"We encourage all of them to think about any projects they would like to bring forward to support Elmbridge residents."

Applications for the third round of funding closes at 17:00BST on 25 October.
