Motorists experienced long delays on a motorway after a crash between two lorries.

One lane was closed for several hours on the M5 southbound between junction 11 (Gloucester/GoldenValley Bypass) and junction 11A (Gloucester/Cirencester).

Traffic monitoring site INRIX said congestion was almost back to junction nine at Tewkesbury, but it has now cleared.

National Highways confirmed all lanes have now reopened. No injuries were reported and no arrests made.

A police spokesperson said officers were called at about 06:05 GMT.

"One of the vehicles shed its load during the collision causing two lanes to be shut while debris was cleared from the carriageway," they added.

National Highways explained traffic had been stopped for some time earlier.

One lane remained closed for clean-up and recovery, but that has now reopened.
