A shipping container restaurant could be installed next to Bradford college to give students experience of working in busy environments.

The college has submitted a planning application to Bradford Council.

It plans to build a new street food kitchen and seating area on a section of green space next to its David Hockney building on Great Horton Road.

The city council is expected to consider the proposal in July.

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the planning applications said the land would be "excavated to create a level hardstanding area so that the external catering facilities and adjacent seating area can be accessible to all"/

If approved, the new unit would be open during college hours and on evenings and weekends.

The plans would also include a new entrance to The Grove, which is a training restaurant based in the building.

A statement from Bradford College said the training restaurant would offer “new specialist facilities that reflect the changing needs of the relevant industries”.

It said the development would offer an "efficient, cost effective and sustainable solution" to provide practical teaching spaces for students studying T Levels.

The college added it would offer "new specialist facilities that reflect the changing needs of the relevant industries".

“The creation of the new covered external dining and cooking area enables the development of the curriculum to include skills associated with external/street-food and alfresco dining."
