Police are appealing for information after a teenage girl reported she was raped at a caravan park in Clacton.

The girl told police she was assaulted by two teenage boys under a bridge near the clubhouse at Martello Beach Holiday Park.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said the incident was reported shortly before 19:30 BST on Friday.

Over the weekend police carried out high-visibility patrols and plain-clothes officers spoke to local residents.

Det Insp James Hardingham said: “I know this incident will cause concern for those living and staying at the park and my team is working around the clock to identify these two boys.

“The victim and her family are being supported by specialist officers and staff."

He said the boys were seen in the arcade area at about 18:50 BST before walking with the victim to the bridge where police believe the assault took place.

The police spokesperson said the boys were described as being white and in their early teens.

One has black hair and was wearing a white vest and grey shorts with a lime green stripe vertically down the side, white socks and white trainers.

The second boy has been described as having blond hair and was wearing a blue t-shirt with white writing on the bottom on the back and small white horizontal lines on the arms, blue shorts and black flip-flops.

The force has urged anyone who may have seen the boys or who has any more information to come forward.
