Man critical in hospital after car crashes into house

Police closed the road for several hours after the crash

A 66-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after a car crashed into a house in East Renfrewshire.

The Vauxhall Mokka crashed in Fern Drive, Barrhead, at about 17:45 on Wednesday.

The 77-year-old woman, who was driving the car, was uninjured.

Medical staff at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital described the man's condition as "critical".

Another man, aged 60, was also taken to hospital but was later released.

The street, near its junction with Whin Avenue, was closed for several hours after the crash as part of an initial investigation.

Police Scotland said an investigation into the incident was under way.

Officers appealed for anyone in the area with dashcam or doorbell camera footage to come forward and share it with police, external.
