House death victim named as man faces murder charge

A woman who died after being found seriously injured at a house has been formally identified.

Laura Robson, 37, was discovered at about 22:20 BST on Monday by emergency services called to Appledore Close in Gateshead. She died shortly after.

Ben Hughes, 38, of Appledore Close, has been charged with Ms Robson's murder and was due to appear at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

The victim's family is being supported by police who renewed an appeal for information.
