A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after another man died in a "tragic incident" when he became trapped under his vehicle.

Hertfordshire Police was called to Thumpers, Hemel Hempstead, at about 20:00 GMT on Wednesday to reports that a man was under a vehicle.

Fire crews attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The arrested man, from the town, remains in custody.

Det Sgt John Prendergast said: "This was a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the victim’s family at this difficult time.

"We have already conducted extensive inquiries, but would now like to appeal to anyone who may have information that has not yet been in contact with us to please get in touch.

"I would particularly like to hear from anyone who may have seen a man on a bicycle in the area around the time."

The dead man's family was being supported by specially trained officers.
