Man dies following assault in Carrick-on-Suir

A man has died following an assault in County Tipperary in the Republic of Ireland.

Gardaí (Irish police) said the man was found unresponsive at a residential property in Carrick-on-Suir at about 23:00 local time on Saturday.

He was later pronounced dead and his body remains at the scene, which has been cordoned off for a forensic examination.

A woman, who is in her 20s, has been arrested and remains in custody at a garda station in Tipperary.

Gardaí said the coroner has been notified and the Office of the State Pathologist has been requested to assist in the investigation.
