Heavy rainfall has led to widespread disruption on roads across Orkney.

Part of the Grainshore Road on the outskirts of Kirkwall, off the A965 Kirkwall to Stromness road, had to be closed because of the surface water and a car was abandoned.

The main road to Kirkwall Airport was one of the worst affected and Highlands and Islands Airports - which operates the terminal - warned passengers to take extra time to catch their flights.

Stagecoach bus services between Kirkwall and Stromness have had to be diverted as a result of the road closure. Police Scotland is advising motorists to take extra care.
