A man and woman have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after three people were stabbed in Leicester.

Three men, all in their 20s, were taken to hospital with slash and puncture wounds after police were called to a large fight "involving 15 to 20 people" in St Saviours Road at 18:15 BST on Monday.

One of the injured men was discharged overnight, while the other two remain in hospital.

The arrested pair, a 34-year-old man and 32-year-old woman, both from Leicester, remain in custody.

A number of roads were closed while investigations were carried out, but Leicestershire Police confirmed these closures had all been lifted.

Appealing for information, a force spokesperson added: "We know there were a number of people in the area at the time who may have witnessed what happened or the events leading up to it."
