A council hit by a cyber attack last week says its systems remain shut down.

Tewkesbury Borough Council has been rebuilding its services and an investigation is underway after it declared a major incident on Wednesday.

In an update the council’s chief executive says they believe the incident is “contained” and there is “no evidence” of a data breach.

Residents have been warned not to e-mail the council while some of its services are affected.

Speaking on X, chief executive Alistair Cunningham said: “We have no evidence that data has left this organisation. Our systems are shut down as a precautionary measure.

“Further forensic work has been ongoing this weekend and we now believe the incident is contained within the infrastructure of our systems."

The council has halted job interviews and says it is unable to process formal complaints or information requests while it manages the incident.

Councillors will also be offering advice at community support hubs from 10:00 to 15:00 BST this week at the following locations:

  • Brockworth Community Centre

  • Bishop’s Cleeve Parish Office

  • Churchdown GL3 Community Centre

  • Winchcombe Parish Office, Abbey Fields

Mr Cunningham continued: "When it’s safe to do so we’ll take a risk-based approach to bringing our services back online, and we’ll be closely monitoring them as we do so.”
