Grimsby roadworks postponed after confusion

Gas-related roadworks have been postponed after residents and businesses complained the repairs had caused confusion and disruption.
Barriers and cones were put out for the work in the West Marsh area of Grimsby on Friday 30 August, but one business owner claimed he had not been informed.
A North East Lincolnshire Council spokesperson said the traffic measures were deemed unsuitable and it had asked Cadent to remove the barriers and signs.
Cadent Gas said it had notified residents and businesses but had postponed the work at the junction of Armstrong Street and Charlton Street and would discuss a plan with the council to reschedule it.
'Not suitable'
Chris Jubb, who runs Elite Koi and also owns Snax Corner in Armstrong Street, told the Local Democracy Reporting Service there had been “no notification from the council or Cadent that these works were going to take place”.
He said his business had been “absolutely dead” over the weekend. By Tuesday, the works had been cancelled.
The council spokesperson said officials attended the site and determined "that the arrangement of traffic management" at the junction was "not suitable".
A Cadent spokesperson said: “As is our standard practice, we sent letters to all business owners and affected residents prior to the works beginning."
They added: "We have now postponed the works and we will be sitting down with the local highways authority to come up with an effective plan for how we move forward with the project.”
The council said it would work with the company to ensure "suitable traffic management arrangements" would be introduced before it starts work.
Cadent Gas continues to work on Charlton Street between Armstrong Street and Corporation Road.
