Reminder for islanders to register to vote

Guernsey's general election is taking place on 18 June

People have been urged to sign up in time to vote in Guernsey's elections which are set to take place in about three months.

The States of Guernsey said even if people had registered previously, they would have to do so again to vote in the upcoming election on 18 June.

The States said 20,010 people had registered to be on the electoral roll since December.

Eligible people have until 30 April to register to vote in the election, which will involve all 38 deputy positions, external at the States.

'Quick and simple'

The States said 15-year-olds could join the electoral roll but they could not vote until they were 16.

Colette Falla, registrar general of electors, said it was a "very quick and simple process" to register.

Anyone who would like to register for the vote has been asked to visit the Guernsey Election website, external.
