A man has appeared in court after a baby was left with life-threatening injuries.

Bradley Thomas, 22, was charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent after police were called to a property in Redcar, Teesside, on Sunday.

The three-month-old boy was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle, where Cleveland Police said he remained in a critical condition.

Mr Thomas, from Redcar, appeared before Teesside Magistrates' Court where he was remanded in custody. He will appear at Teesside Crown Court on 5 November.
