Man, 18, dies after A27 car crash and fire

An 18-year-old man from Heathfield has died, Sussex Police said

An 18-year-old man has died after a crash and a vehicle fire on the A27 near Polegate.
Emergency services were called to the scene just before 23:00 BST on Tuesday after a car caught fire after a crash on Lewes Road, Newlands, near the Wilmington crossroads.
Sussex Police has confirmed that the driver of one car, an 18-year-old man from Heathfield, East Sussex, has died. His next of kin have been informed.
The driver of the second car, a 26-year-old man from Eastbourne, sustained a serious injury and remains in hospital.
The road was closed between Drusillas roundabout and Polegate crossroads while police carried out an investigation, but reopened just after midday.
An investigation into the circumstances of the collision is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact Sussex Police.
