A man who fired a gun at a house in the West Midlands has been warned he faces jail along with his accomplice.

Asaan Hussain, 30, fired two shots at the property on Vicarage Street, Oldbury, before meeting Sima Khan, 41, near Sandwell Valley Country Park and fleeing to Wales in a stolen Hyundai car.

The pair were later arrested after returning to Birmingham, West Midlands Police said.

Hussain, of Edgbaston Road, Birmingham, and Khan, from Navigation Road in the city, had denied their involvement in the shooting, but were found guilty after a trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

Police used CCTV footage to track Hussain's movements leading up to the shooting, and saw him parking near the scene to survey the area four days earlier.

On the night of the shooting, he took a taxi to the area before driving the Hyundai and fired two rounds at the living room and bedroom windows of the house, police said.

During a search of Khan's home later, officers discovered a self-loading pistol with live ammunition hidden in a handbag under her bed.

Forensic analysis confirmed the pistol was not used in the shooting.

Hussain was later charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

'A planned attack'

Khan faced charges of assisting an offender, possession of a firearm and possession of prohibited ammunition.

They were found guilty on 11 September and are due to be sentenced on 31 October.

Police said it was "miraculous" no one was hurt in the shooting.

Detective Sergeant Lucy Mooney said: "This was a planned attack. Hussain had set up his mode of transport away from the scene and surveyed the area before firing.

"Khan helped Hussain after the shooting and was even found in possession of an unrelated gun."

The investigation was part of Operation Target, an ongoing police effort to tackle organised crime.
