A large tree has fallen on to a bungalow as strong winds continue to hit parts of the West Midlands.

More than 25 firefighters went to the home in Longbridge, Birmingham, at about 07:20 GMT to remove branches from the building and the street.

A woman in her 70s was treated by paramedics for shock. The property remained structurally sound, West Midlands Fire Service said.

The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for wind, external until 15:00 GMT on Thursday amid Storm Pia.

Gusts of up to 80mph (130km/h) were reported in northern parts of the UK.

Multiple train services have been disrupted due to fallen trees, including trains between Birmingham Snow Hill and Whitlocks End, and from Nuneaton to Coventry.

Disruption was expected until about 15:00 GMT, National Rail said.

There were further rail difficulties when services from Stoke-on-Trent stopped heading south on Thursday morning due to damaged overhead wires, although what caused the damage was unclear.
