An individual has been arrested in connection with the destruction of multiple gravestones at a Flintshire cemetery at the weekend.

Headstones at Connah's Quay Cemetery were kicked over in what has been described as a "trail of destruction" by one councillor.

David Richardson said he witnessed families "with tears in their eyes" after the vandal rampage saw scores of gravestones demolished.

North Wales Police said it would make no further comment following the arrest.

Mr Richardson, who represents the Golftyn ward in Connah's Quay, previously said the damage was "disgusting" and "upsetting".

He said he was told about the vandalism on Saturday morning, when one of the families affected contacted him.

"When I first arrived there I could see half-a-dozen people stood at graves. It upset me to see family members with tears in their eyes," he added.
