A man has died following an alleged hit-and-run collision.

Officers were called to reports of an injured person on the A11 at Red Lodge, near Newmarket, Suffolk, at 22:33 BST, on Monday.

It is thought a vehicle subsequently collided with the pedestrian, a man aged in his 30s, and failed to stop at the scene.

The road was closed in both directions from the Fiveways roundabout to the southbound exit for Red Lodge for about nine hours.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage to get in touch.

On Monday, the road in the same area was closed due to an oil spill.
