Firefighters have been tackling a blaze at a family-run pub in West Sussex.

At about 06:20 BST, West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said it had sent eight fire engines and an aerial ladder platform to The Windmill Inn, in Mill Lane, Rustington.

At the height of the blaze, crews from Littlehampton, Bognor Regis, Worthing and West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were at the scene.

Just before 10:00, the service confirmed that the fire was out and all crews had left the scene shortly after 09:00.

Residents have been advised by the fire service to avoid the area and to keep windows and doors closed.

The road has reopened to traffic.
