Police have launched an investigation after a spate of skip thefts in the Scunthorpe area.

Humberside Police said the force had seen a spike in the number of reports of skips being stolen from private addresses and their contents fly-tipped.

Offenders were also using battery-operated tools to cut off locks and break into compounds to steal skips, the force said.

The skips were then being repainted and used by other firms, it added.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the force on the 101 non-emergency number, or via the website, external.
