Road closures will continue on a stretch of the A52 in Nottingham as part of a major upgrade.

Work to resurface, upgrade drainage, improve lighting and create a combined cycle and footway started on the Derby Road section in May.

A number of overnight closures were planned to take place until Friday 26 September, but National Highways said additional closures are now required from Monday until 10 October.

The A52 will be shut between the Priory and Queen's Medical Centre roundabouts from 20:00 BST and 00:00 as a result.

A spokesperson for National Highways said: "During overnight full closures of the A52 Derby Road, the site team will be working under a traffic management air lock system.

"This system is a safety feature designed to prevent unauthorised vehicles from entering or leaving the works area.

"As with previous overnight closures, we'll be operating marshalled closure points, as well as intercom traffic signs at roadworks closure points to provide local access.

"All dates and times are subject to change due to operational requirements or bad weather."

Diversions in place

During the closure, road users who want to travel eastbound on the A52 will be diverted south on to Woodside Road A6464, then east along University Boulevard A6005.

The diversion will then continue north along the A52 towards to Queen's Medical Centre.

Westbound road users will be diverted south along Clifton Boulevard, then west along University Boulevard A6005 and north on Woodside Road A6464 before they rejoin the A52.

For road users travelling westbound the diversion will take them south along Clifton Boulevard, then west along University Boulevard A6005, and then north on Woodside Road A646, before rejoining the A52.

The scheme is due to be completed in spring 2026.
