Suspected human remains found in murder inquiry

Suspected human remains have been found as part of an investigation into a man who went missing after driving from Scotland to England.

Paul Taylor, 56, was last in Carlisle, Cumbria, on 17 October, after leaving his address in Annan at about 21:45 GMT the same evening.

Cumbria Police said on Thursday suspected human remains had been found in the area of Finglandrigg Wood, off the B5307 west of Carlisle.

People have been asked to avoid the area as police remained at the scene.

"Paul’s family have been informed of developments," Cumbria Police said.

Paul Taylor was last seen on 17 October 2023

Cumbria Police upgraded its inquiry to a murder investigation a month after Mr Taylor's disappearance last year.

Two teenagers have been charged in connection with the investigation.

In February, a 19-year-old man appeared in court charged with murder.

Another 19-year-old man was charged with assisting an offender in March.
