A young male has suffered a suspected spinal injury after jumping from rocks near Durdle Door, the RNLI has said.

Two helicopters, coastguard rescue teams, lifeboats, fire crews and an ambulance were called to the incident at Man O'War Cove, Dorset, on Monday afternoon.

An inshore lifeboat was first on the scene shortly after 15:15 BST, transferring a paramedic from the Coastguard helicopter to the busy beach.

The air ambulance landed soon afterwards and transferred the young person to hospital.

The Coastguard said it was called to help an injured person on the beach shortly after 15:00 BST.

The RNLI said it responded to reports "a young male had jumped off rocks into the water at Man O'War beach and suffered a suspected spinal injury".

The rescue operation involved two coastguard rescue teams from Lulworth and Kimmeridge, the coastguard helicopter, both Weymouth RNLI lifeboats, fire service crews from Wareham and Dorchester, a fire service technical rescue team from Poole, South Western Ambulance Service and the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

No details about the casualty's age or his condition have been shared.
