A 79-year-old woman has been arrested after a car was seen driving the wrong way on a major motorway.
Police were called just before 19:40 GMT on Tuesday, with reports that a vehicle had been driven the wrong way along the eastbound carriageway of the M27 in Hampshire.
The silver Honda Accord travelled between junction 2 for Ower and junction 1 for Cadnam, continuing onto the wrong side of the A31, before leaving the dual carriageway.
Officers were led to an address in Wilton, Wiltshire, where a woman was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.
She has been bailed until 29 January while further investigations are carried out.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.
