Plans have been lodged for a 5.5 mile (9km) active travel route between Aviemore and Carrbridge in the Highlands.

The Scottish government said the new pedestrian and cycle-friendly link would be built during the construction of dual carriageway on the A9 between the Slochd and Dalraddy.

A public consultation was held on the proposals last year.

Transport officials said a signalled crossing would be installed on the A95 at Granish to address safety concerns raised during the consultation.
