Tributes paid to mother who died in crash

Tributes have been paid by a "heartbroken" family to a woman who died in an early morning crash involving a van and an HGV.

Chloe Lightfoot, 33, a mother of one who lived in Spennymoor, died on the A66 near Bowes, County Durham, following the collision at about 08:00 BST on Tuesday.

In a statement, her family said she was a "beautiful young woman who was a mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, girlfriend and friend to many".

"To never see her smile again is breaking our hearts," they said. "We are going to miss her every day."

The crash involved a Citroen Berlingo van which Ms Lightfoot was driving and an HGV, Durham Police said.

Emergency services tried to save Ms Lightfoot but she died at the scene.

Her family are being supported by officers.
