A man has been jailed for six and a half years for stabbing another man in a field in Stoke-on-Trent.

Maksymilian Jagielski, 20, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, was sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Friday after he previously admitted charges of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a knife in a public place.

In July 2023, Jagielski stabbed the victim several times after they met near Abbey Road and then ran away, leaving his victim injured in the street, according to Staffordshire Police

Paramedics treated the victim, a man in his 20s, at the scene and took him to hospital for treatment from where he was later discharged after recovering.

After speaking to witnesses in the area at the time, the 20-year-old was tracked down to his home and arrested, the force said.
