Elderly pedestrian seriously injured in crash

A woman, aged in her 80s, has been seriously injured in a crash in West Byfleet.

Surrey Police said officers were called to reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian on Old Woking Road, near the junctions of Sheerwater Road and Elmstead Road, at around 17:15 GMT on Friday.

A man, aged in his 60s, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, drink driving, drug driving, driving whilst unfit through drink and driving whilst unfit through drugs, said the force.

Officers are particularly interested in the movements of a red Fiat Punto in the moments immediately before the crash, it added.

Anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage is urged to contact police.
