A group of six men have been rearrested for murder after a man who was found with life-threatening injuries in Worcestershire has died, police have said.

The victim, a 30-year-old man, was found on Barbourne Road in Worcester by officers at about 04:15 GMT on Tuesday morning.

Five men, aged between 22 to 35, were arrested shortly afterwards on suspicion of attempted murder. A sixth man was arrested in the afternoon.

West Mercia Police said the man died in hospital from his injuries and confirmed his death was now being investigated as murder.

Det Ch Insp Lee Holehouse, said: "First and foremost, our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim.

"I know this incident has shocked the local community. I'd like to reassure you that we're working hard and at pace to understand what happened yesterday, and that at this stage there is nothing to suggest any wider risk to the public.

"A scene guard remains in place on Barbourne Road while we collect evidence and carry out enquiries."

An increased police presence in the area will remain throughout Wednesday, he added.
