Man arrested after woman reports rape and assault
Essex Police said the alleged attack happened on Monday night

A man has been arrested after a woman reported she had been raped and attacked with a knife.
Essex Police said an investigation was ongoing after a woman said she was set upon by a man in the area of Villa Road Recreation Ground in South Benfleet, at about 22:45 BST on Monday.
The force said the woman was receiving treatment for injuries, which were not life-threatening.
Following a thorough search of the area, a 23-year-old man, from Benfleet, remains in custody for questioning on suspicion of rape and assault.
The force has appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch.
