A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a woman.

Police were called by the ambulance service at about 00:50 BST on Thursday to a property in Chesterton Road, Cambridge, after reports of the sudden death of a woman in her 20s.

Her death is being treated as suspicious and the investigation is ongoing, police said.

The man who was arrested on Thursday evening, who is from Cambridge, has since been bailed.

A forensic post-mortem examination is due to take place next week.

Det Insp Hamish Cowley, of Cambridgeshire Police, said: "I understand this is likely to be concerning to the local community, but we believe it to be an isolated incident, and we have extra patrols in the area today."

Anyone with information has been asked to contact the police.
