Pedestrian seriously hurt after being hit by car

A man in his 70s has been taken to hospital with "life-threatening injuries" after he was hit by a car in Leeds.

The pedestrian was crossing Street Lane at the junction of Allerton Avenue in Moortown at about 18:30 BST on Friday when he was struck.

The red Nissan Leaf was travelling eastwards on Street Lane when the man was hit, West Yorkshire Police said.

Those who witnessed the collision or the circumstances leading up to it were asked to contact the force using the 101 service.
