The burglars broke into a house in Trent Lane in Newton Solney, Derbyshire

Police are appealing for information after a man and woman were threatened during an attempted burglary.

Officers were called to a house in Trent Lane in Newton Solney, Derbyshire, on 15 November, just after 21:00 GMT after two men broke into a house.

Derbyshire Police said the men failed to steal a car, which they demanded a key for, and left in a small dark-coloured car down Trent Lane and on to Main Street.

The force said it had since stepped up patrols in the area and has asked anyone with CCTV footage or information to come forward.

Both men are described as being about 6ft (2m), white and dressed in dark clothing with their faces covered.

Officers arrived at the scene after the men left the house and secured "vital evidence", police added.
