Murder arrest following death of man in his 20s

A 28-year-old man whose body was discovered in Portavogie, County Down, on Monday has been named as Jordan Webb.

Police say they attended an address in the New Harbour Road area on Monday at 07:45 GMT and Mr Webb was pronounced dead at the scene.

Det Insp Hollie McCartan, from the Police Service of Northern Ireland's Major Investigation Team, said: "Sadly, Mr Jordan Webb was pronounced dead at the scene. My thoughts are with Jordan's family and loved ones at this most difficult time."

A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

She added police officers are still in the area and cordons are in place.

Det Insp McCartan said the PSNI attended the scene along with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, where the man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene.

"My thoughts are with the young man's family and loved ones, who are left trying to come to terms with their unimaginable loss."

Councillor for Ards Peninsula, Pete Wray described the news as shocking and sad on social media.

"Please give the families involved privacy, and keep them in your thoughts and prayers," he said.
