Pub regulars have posed for a nude calendar to raise funds for a military veterans' charity.

Eleven men from The Woodman on Goodson Street, Hanley are featured in the calendar, called Nuddy in the Woody.

Profits from its sale will go to the Tri Services and Veterans Support Centre in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Landlady Katie Haycock, who organised the shoot, said it came about after the pub's resident quizmaster "piped up after a few drinks and then the idea started spinning in my head."

Some of the men came to the bar to ask if they could be in the calendar "which I found quite surprising," said Ms Haycock, while others needed "some gentle persuasion".

On the night of the photo shoot in September, there were some people who did not know each other. "And I'm asking them to get naked together, which was very strange!" she said.

The group are now good friends, said the landlady, adding that the response to the calendar had been "so positive."

Ms Haycock said they wanted to support a local charity, and she was "blown away" after being invited to visit Tri Services and seeing the work they do.

Tony Brennan is Mr March and makes an appearance on the August page too.

He volunteered to be in the calendar, and said the charity was amazing "and one of those that goes under the radar, so any way we can help is tremendous."

After seeing some of her regulars naked, Ms Haycock joked that she was now "scarred for life!"

The calendar is being sold at the pub for £15, with profits going to Tri Service and Veterans Support Centre.
