A resident chased two burglars back over a garden fence after they had stolen cash and jewellery, police have said.

Northamptonshire Police said the pair targeted a home in Grangeway in Rushden between 19:15 BST and 19:55 on 22 September.

The offenders climbed over a garden fence and took the items from upstairs rooms, but were then chased "back over the garden fence" by the occupier.

A spokesperson said one offender was wearing all black clothing, while a second was thought to be wearing a dark green coat, grey jogging bottoms and black trainers. Both were wearing a black balaclava and gloves.

Officers would like to hear from anyone with information or relevant footage, including anyone who saw a dark coloured car - possibly a Vauxhall Astra - at the scene.
