A new £60,000 garden for patients and staff has been opened at a Lincolnshire hospital.

The site at Grantham and District Hospital is one of three planned for the county's hospitals, which have been funded by NHS Charities Together.

One has already opened at Lincoln County Hospital and a green area will also be created at Pilgrim Hospital in Boston.

Ben Petts, United Lincolnshire Hospitals charity manager, said "a lot of thought and care" had been put into the design of the garden.

Mr Petts added: “We understand how stressful it can be coming to hospital and so to have a space where everyone can go and enjoy some fresh air and a break away from the hustle and bustle is so valuable.

"These areas really are going to make a massive difference for our patients, colleagues and visitors.”

The Grantham garden is located behind the hospital's newly opened £5.3m operating theatres.

It was designed with input from staff and was opened by trust director Sameedha Rich-Mahadkar.
