A woman in her 80s has died and a man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of murder after both were found with stab wounds.

Police were called to a disturbance at a house in Southborough, near Tunbridge Wells, on Saturday night.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the man was taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious condition, a Kent Police spokesman said.

He said the man had been arrested on suspicion of murder while inquiries to determine the full circumstances continue.

Officers remain at the scene in Bright Ridge on Sunday, as part of the ongoing investigation, he added.

The spokesman said the pair were known to each other and police are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the incident, which happened shortly before 23:00 BST.
