A cash collection van was brought to a sudden halt by thieves while on its rounds in Leicester.
A BMW motorbike stopped in front of the van at the junction of Wigston Lane and Aylestone Road just before 11:00 BST on Sunday forcing it to brake.
A black Nissan Navara then hit the rear of the van.
The cash collection van’s occupants, two men in their 30s and 40s, were attacked by three suspects with one victim sprayed with an unknown substance before both were forced into the back of the van.
The attackers demanded the keys to the safe but were unable to gain access and they left the scene in their vehicles.
Leicestershire Police said the victims did not suffer serious injuries in the attempted theft.
Det Insp Jenny Tattersall said there were a lot of witnesses to the raid and called for people to speak to police.
She said: “Any details you’re able to provide, no matter how insignificant you think they are, could be important.”
