Residents have described the aftermath of a landslip in East Sussex last month as an "ongoing nightmare".

Hastings Borough Council (HBC) was made aware of the landslip at Old Roar Gill, St Leonards on 15 February and the area was closed off.

At a meeting with residents on Friday, it said it was still waiting for instructions from its insurance company, but described the meeting as "productive".

Two properties still cannot be lived in due to Emergency Prohibition Orders.

Ralitsa Hiteva was issued with one of the orders on 21 February.

Following the meeting, she told BBC South East she was "really angry but I'm also really tired.

"I don't understand how a council can have this response which is 'we'll wait and see'," she added.

"It's not fine if your property's falling down a cliff."

One resident said the landslip was moving "bit by bit"

Gill Clusker, who has not been asked to move, said the landslip had affected the corner of her garden and was moving "bit by bit".

"It's just an ongoing nightmare," she said, adding that the council meeting had left residents without "any more information".

Residents crowdfunding to pay for their own legal and technical expert support have so far raised £1,950.

A council spokesperson said: "It was a useful and productive meeting. We are hopeful of working with the residents to find a resolution as soon as possible."
