Street lights on Longthorpe Parkway in Peterborough will be replaced

Street lights on a main road in Peterborough will be replaced after more than a year of being out of order.

The lights are on the Thorpe Wood roundabout, between Nene Parkway and Longthorpe Parkway.

The issue was raised at Peterborough City Council’s full council meeting on Wednesday, by Liberal Democrat member Chris Hogg.

The meeting was told there had been several issues with the feeder pillar- which is a power box that holds electric circuits for the lights, which will be replaced.

On 11 March, at the council’s cabinet meeting councillors approved £8.1m for the Transport Capital Programme of works for 2024-2025. This includes works to the Cygnet Bridge and extreme weather improvements to highways across the city.

Councillor Gavin Elsey, cabinet member for infrastructure, environment and climate change, said a budget from the transport capital has been allocated for the light works which will commence in the new financial year which begins on 1 April.
