Break-in at cupcake business run by mother of crash teen

The mother of one of four teenagers who died in a car crash has said a break-in at her cake business left her saddened that a small, independent operation should be targeted, but recent events had given her perspective.
Crystal Owen, owner of Crystal's Cupcakes in Shrewsbury, said on Facebook that "with what we have had to go through, this has not caused as much distress as it would have previously".
The car in which her son Harvey Owen and three others were travelling left the road in north Wales in November 2023 before being found upside down, partially submerged in water.
Thieves were seen on security camera footage forcing their way into Crystal's Cupcakes at about 05:30 BST on Sunday.
Ms Owen said: "It saddens us more than anything that they have chose to target a small independent, hardworking business."
She said two people were seen on the CCTV footage and they managed to grab hold of her till and printer.
Ms Owen said it was "more of an inconvenience" and she was able to open to serve customers on Monday.
