Man charged with assaulting police officer

A man has been charged with assaulting a police officer during a disturbance in York.
North Yorkshire Police said officers "separated a large group of people" in the Tang Hall area at around 21:00 BST on Friday.
The force said one person was taken to hospital with facial injuries and a police officer was also assaulted.
Police said a man in his 30s has been charged with assaulting an emergency worker and is due to appear at York Magistrates' Court on 28 August.
The force added that a full investigation into what happened is under way, and has appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident or has footage of it to contact them.
