Woman dies and driver in hospital after crash

A woman has died in a crash involving a motorbike and a car on a country road.

Emergency services were called to the collision on the B4014 in Long Newnton, Gloucestershire, at around 17:30 BST on Wednesday.

A 28-year-old woman, who had been riding a Kawasaki ZR motorcycle, was declared dead at the scene. Her next of kin and the coroner have been informed.

The driver of the other vehicle, a Volvo C70, was a 78-year-old woman who was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, where she is currently being treated for her injuries.

Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision and the road will remain closed between Tetbury and Malmesbury over the coming hours, police said.
