A man has been charged with murder following the death of his 93-year-old father.

Gary Moore, 64, of Mill Lane, Hambrook, South Gloucestershire, appeared at Bristol Crown Court on Monday.

Emergency services were called to a home in Mill Lane at about 9:55 BST on Saturday, where his father, Robert Moore, was found dead at the scene.

Det Insp Deb Hatch, of Avon and Somerset Police's major crime team said the victim had not been formally identified but was believed to be Robert Moore, who was commonly known as Bob.

Det Insp Hatch added: "Specially-trained officers will continue to support and update Bob’s family and all our thoughts are with them at this very upsetting time for them.”

Mr Moore was arrested and taken into custody shortly after his father was found.

He will next appear at Bristol Crown Court for a pre-trial preparation hearing on 2 August.
