The organiser of an all-female live street art event said she was "so proud" of the nine artists involved and the project's "absolute success".

The artists painted the walls of the old casino on Osborne Road in Southsea, Hampshire, as part of the LadyJam event on Saturday ad Sunday.

Each wall panel was painted by a different artist, including the organiser, Lou Short, who paints under the name Midge.

Ms Short said the event had captured the attention of the local community.

Ms Short said: "An image started forming of each wall being painted by a female artist and I started to run with the idea of an all-female paint jam at the end of February, to coincide with the upcoming Women In Art exhibition at Aspex."

She said that every artist she asked to take part "was a massive 'yes' immediately".

Going forward, Ms Short said she would love LadyJam to be an annual event.

"It's been an absolute success," she said.

"I am so proud of the artists involved. Without them it wouldn't have become what it was, and I am so grateful to them."
