A 60-year-old man has been charged with murder after the body of a woman was found at a hotel in Surrey.

James Cartwright, from Axminster in Devon, was also charged with controlling and coercive behaviour after being arrested on Friday, Surrey Police said.

He has been remanded in police custody to appear at Guildford Magistrates' Court on Monday.

Officers were called to Pennyhill Park Hotel, Bagshot, at about 08:43 BST last Sunday by South East Coast Ambulance Service after the body of a woman in her 50s was discovered.

The force said on Friday that the woman's family had been informed and were being supported by specially trained officers.

Surrey Police has asked anyone with further information to contact it.
