RAF Cadets 'devastated' by trailer theft

The trailer stored a combination of sentimental items and practical equipment

A group of RAF air cadets have been left "devastated" after a trailer full of equipment and memorabilia was stolen from their base.
The trailer - belonging to 150 City of Oxford - was stolen from the Joint Cadet Centre on Sandy Lane West between 21:45 BST on 31 July and 11:00 on 1 August.
Among the items stored in the unit were the squadron's banner and ensign, as well as the group's original formation certificate from King George VI.
Thames Valley Police confirmed that it was investigating the theft, which the squadron said would have a "devastating and lasting impact".
"We are all devastated by the theft of this equipment, especially given the high sentimentality of the items that have been lost," the group said in a statement.
"We also worry as to the longer-term impact that may not have been realised yet."
Alongside items of "high sentimental vale", the trailer was also used to store practical kit - including camping equipment, such as tents and rucksacks.
The squadron said this was used for the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme, with the theft meaning "we will have to either repurchase equipment, or face being unable to offer expeditions".
Former RAF cadet uniforms were also kept in the container.
"We did our best to hold enough clothing to allow cadets to have access to uniform, without having to source and fund it themselves, to make the squadron more accessible," the squadron explained.
"This will have a lasting impact as we will be unable to readily help those who may not have the means to buy their own clothing."
The missing trailer does not have RAF branding on, but can be recognised by a radio mast mounted to the front, and the roller-shutter door on the rear.
Anyone with information should contact police.
